FAQ

Click the button related to the marker in the sidebar.
The website will remember your toggled markers for the next visit.
If you are logged in, you can go to Options > "Save Settings" to save the state of toggled markers to your account.
It's the difficulty level of surviving here.

Green: Easy (no natives, plenty resources)
Orange: Medium (some natives, less resources)
Red: Hard (many natives, no resources)
First of all, you have to be registered and logged in.
Then click on the map where you want to add the marker.
You have two options: Marker and Screenshot

Marker: Select your marker. Most markers are auto-placed with ingame coordinates and cannot be placed by users.
Screenshot: Drag and drop your screenshot to the area and wait for the upload to finish.
Your screenhots are usually stored here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[id]\760\remote\[id]\screenshots

Description: (optional) You can describe this marker. It should add more informations to the marker
Good: Marker "Good Spot" - Description: "Much water, no enemies, many fish, close to boat"
Bad: Marker "Good Spot" - Description: "My base"


READ THE RULES BEFORE ADDING MARKERS
You have to be logged in to do this.
Go to "Options" (sidebar) > "Flag markers".
Click on the marker you want to report.
Reasons may be: Wrong marker type, wrong position, dublicate, inappropriate, ...
Enter your reason.
If it fails, it may be an auto-placed marker that cannot be removed.

How do i install it?

  1. Download ModAPI (link above) and check the Map mod
  2. Start it.
  3. Check "Map" on the left side.
    Make sure you are using version >=1.5.
  4. (optional) Change the key bind under the tab "Settings"
  5. Start The Forest by clicking "Start game" in the lower right
  6. Ingame: Press "M" to toggle the map.
Registered users can upload in-game screenhots.
To view them click on this icon:
Click on the map.
Copy the url in the address bar.
Format: http://theforestmap.com/#x,y
The map will automatically pan to the location.
Especially "Plane", "Sailboat", or "Animals".
The plane has a random crash site. You can land in a small radius around the marker.
The sailboat has a random spawn position near the south coast.
All animal markers are spawn zones. Animals have a chance to spawn around that marker.
